United looking for De Gea replacement

David De Gea’s future after a decade-long career at Manchester United is still uncertain. The Spanish goalkeeper’s contract ends next summer and if they want to keep him, the Red Devils will have to produce a new one pretty soon. In an attempt to safeguard against the prospect of being left without a designated number one, the club have decided to scout for a replacement, Mirror reports.

With the negotiations between De Gea and United lasting for over a year, Sky Sports reported in July that the club were willing to offer the 28-year-old a six-year contract and a weekly salary between £350 000 and £370 000 to get him to stay at Old Trafford. However, after plenty of rumours and no news of a renewal, speculation arose that de Gea might be set to leave the club.

It has been reported that United are considering Dinamo Zagreb’s keeper Dominik Livakovic, who also plays for the Croatian national team. On 21 August the Croatian started in his team’s 0-2 win against Rosenborg in the Champion League.
