United open to Lukaku offers

Manchester United are open to offers for Romelu Lukaku, according to Sky Sports.

Lukaku arrived at Old Trafford from Everton in 2016 for an initial fee of £75 million and United are looking to recoup the full amount, as they wade through this summer’s transfer market looking to build a team capable of achieving more than the one of previous several seasons.

Prior to his highly successful three-year stint at Goodison Park, the Belgian striker was a Chelsea player that failed to score a single goal in 15 games in the blue shirt. Antonio Conte, now the head coach at Inter Milan, tried to bring him back during his own stint at Stamford Bridge but Lukaku opted for Jose Mourinho’s United instead.

Conte is reportedly still keen on having the 26-year-old leading his forward line, and it’s now Inter who have been credited with serious interest in bringing Lukaku to Italy. The Serie A side are, however, unlikely to act before the end of the month due to being under a four-year UEFA observation, as a part of the settlement with the European football governing body dating back to 2015 over an FFP breach.
