United still want Koulibaly

Manchester United are still interested in signing Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly, according to France Football magazine.

The 20-time English champions have been searching for a top class defender for a long time now. Last summer, they reportedly put in much effort in order to obtain either Tottenham Hotspur’s Toby Alderweireld or Leicester City’s Harry Maguire, but failed in both endeavors. Since then, they’ve made a change at the helm with Jose Mourinho receiving his marching orders and being temporarily replaced by their former forward Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and even though their results have improved significantly, they remain keen on strengthening their back line.

The respected French outlet claim that, even though United aren’t looking at a very busy transfer window, they are ready to spend big in order to land Koulibaly.

The Senegalese international was the standout performer in Napoli’s short-lived Champions League run this season, and he is apparently wanted by a number of top European sides, but the Red Devils will seek to beat off all competition and secure his services for themselves.
