United to keep Alexis Sanchez

Manchester United are set to keep Alexis Sanchez this summer, according to Manchester Evening News.

The Chilean’s involvement in this year’s Copa America ended recently, with his national team falling at the hands of Peru in the semifinal, and subsequently losing out on bronze to Argentina in a game which saw him withdrawn with a hamstring injury after only 17 minutes.

Since his switch from Arsenal in January 2018, Sanchez has played only 45 games and found the opposition net five times, which is altogether an appalling output considering the pedigree with which he arrived. Last season he started only 19 games in all competitions. Reports of him wanting out and the club being eager to get his enormous salary off their backs came thick throughout the campaign, but now when the transfer window is actually open, there are apparently no clubs interested in signing him.

United are therefore preparing to continue with the 30-year-old forward, and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already named him as one of the players expected to chip in with more goals next season.
