United won’t be held ransom

Manchester United are refusing to be held ransom by Ander Herrera and Juan Mata, according to the Mirror.

The contracts of the Spanish pair of midfielders both run out this summer, and unless the situation changes soon, they will be free to leave the club when the season ends. Herrera has recently been linked with Paris Saint-Germain who are looking for a replacement for rebel Adrien Rabiot.

The representatives of the two players are apparently looking for a huge increase in wages for their respective clients, and United are unwilling to meet their demands, with age (29 and 30, respectively) being a key factor behind their firm stance.

It is believed that the club’s willingness to agree to a wage package potentially rising to £500,000 per week with add-ons for Alexis Sanchez has brought them to such a pass that more and more of their players now demand huge wage increases too.

On the other hand, the fact that the Chilean has been a massive flop at Old Trafford since his arrival from Arsenal over a year ago is making United very reluctant to yield to such demands.
