Valencia considering Ilori swoop

Valencia are eyeing a loan move for Liverpool defender Tiago Ilori, the Mail Online understands.

The 20 year old moved to Anfield from Sporting CP towards the end of the summer, but is yet to make an appearance for the club, and could be sent out to gain some valuable first team experience.

He faces stiff competition in Brendan Rodgers’ side, with Kolo Toure, Mamadou Sakho, Martin Skrtel and Daniel Agger ahead of him in the pecking order.

He made just twelve appearances in the Portuguese top flight before switching to Merseyside, while he has played for Portugal at U19, U20 and U21 levels.

Having been born in London, he is eligible for play for England at senior level, and will be keen to show off his talents in the lead up to next summers’ World Cup finals.

Portugal must themselves get through a two legged play-off next month to secure their place at the tournament.
