Vitinha: It would be ´foolish´ to leave PSG

Vitinha feels it would be “foolish” to leave Paris Saint-Germain, amid speculation of a transfer to Real Madrid.

Portugal international Vitinha has played an integral role under Luis Enrique at PSG, who won the treble last season.

Vitinha finished third in the voting for last year’s Ballon d’Or.

Spanish giants Madrid have been linked with a move for the 26-year-old, but Vitinha has no desire to leave PSG.

He told Canal 11: “It would be foolish to leave! I don’t think it would be the best thing for me at the moment. I feel very good here at PSG. I love being here at PSG, and so does my family.

“We have a fantastic group and an incredible coach. I feel that people appreciate me a lot and I feel that I have earned that affection.”

Saudi Arabian clubs have also reportedly lodged moves for Vitinha, but he has no interest in heading to the Middle East.

“Let’s not be naive,” he said. “I’m more committed to having a stable career.

“I already earn very well here in Europe, at a big club. Doubling or tripling that salary wouldn’t make me any happier.”

Vitinha (2,530) leads PSG for touches in Ligue 1 this term, while also playing more successful passes (2,177) than any of his team-mates.

He has scored one goal and provided seven assists in France’s top flight this season.
