According to a report from Bild, German side RB Leipzig are hoping that Timo Werner will sign on the dotted line with a new contract agreement – which will include a new clause. His current deal will end in 2020 but the club don’t want to lose him on the cheap, with his new proposed deal including a €70 million release clause – that the top ten clubs in Europe are able to activate.

That term certainly seems like it’s a little bit vague, but either way, it’s smart of Leipzig to try and lock Werner down for as long as they possibly can.

The 22 year old, who made the jump over to Leipzig from Stuttgart in 2016, is a target for the current Premier League leaders, and title favourites in the eyes of many, Liverpool. The Reds already have a series of top attacking options, but there’s no denying that Werner would add an extra spark into their already impressive ranks.
