Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam is close to completing a move to Liverpool for a fee in the region of £9million.
The Scottish international has had a medical on Merseyside and is believed to be close to agreeing personal terms.
Talented
The midfielder displayed his talent for the first time in the Premier League last season. He helped the club to promotion the season before last and was arguably the Tangerines best player in last seasons campaign.
He showed his vision and creativity in Blackpool’s maiden Premier League campaign. His performances in the first half of last season lead to interest from numerous Premier League clubs in the January transfer window.
Close
The 25 year-old came very close to leaving the Tangerines in January. Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham were all believed to have tried to sign Adam right up to the end of the last transfer window.
A deal couldn’t be done and Charlie Adam stayed at the club to try and help them beat the drop. The disappointment of not moving didn’t stop Adam putting his all into his displays for the Tangerines.
Unfortunately for Blackpool Adam’s hardwork and effort came to nothing as the club were relegated from the Premier League. Blackpool and Adam knew that the Scot would leave the club at the end of the season and that now looks set to happen.
Midfield
Liverpool look likely to sign another midfielder. Liverpool’s only other signing so far this summer was midfielder Jordan Henderson and the Reds fans are now questioning where all their midfielders will fit into the side.
According to reports Argentinian winger Maxi Rodriguez is likely to quit the Merseyside club this summer and a return to his homeland has been mooted. The likes of Raul Meireles, Joe Cole and Christian Poulsen have all been linked with moves away from Anfield.
Then there is the mercurial Alberto Aquilani who spent last season on-loan at Serie A side Juventus is now in limbo. The Italian side have a new manager in the shape of former midfielder Antonio Conte.
It remains to be seen if the Italian international is wanted by the new boss in Turin. However what is likely is that Liverpool will sell some of their surplus midfielders in the coming weeks.
British
Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish seems to believe that signing British players is the way to restore Liverpool back to former glories. He has already signed Andy Carroll and Jordan Henderson in his second reign as Liverpool boss and Adam is likely to join them in the Reds squad.
Dalglish is also interested in signing England international winger Stewart Downing from Aston Villa. However the Midlands club have stated the former-Boro player is not for sale.
Creative
I have to say that I believe that Charlie Adam will turn out to be a really good signing for the Reds. Liverpool lacked creativity in the first half of last season and maybe Charlie Adam is the player to provide them with that missing ingredient next season.
Will Charlie Adam be a good signing for Liverpool?
