Manchester United defender Leny Yoro hopes his side can avenge their Europa League final defeat to Tottenham and continue their positive start to the season with a win.

United are currently on a four-game unbeaten run, having won three of those matches, and would move to second in the table, at least temporarily, with a win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

This is the first match between the two sides since the Europa League final, which saw Spurs win 1-0, and Yoro has called on his side to produce a different result this time around.

“Everyone knows what happened in the final, so I think this game can be a good game for us to prove that maybe the final (could have had) another result,” the Frenchman told the media.

“This game against Tottenham will be important for us… to be (around) the top of the league.”

United finished in 15th last season, their lowest league position since 1989–90, and accrued the fewest points in a top-flight season since they were last relegated in 1973–74.

Yoro was linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid before joining United in the summer of 2024, and despite the huge disappointment of last season, the teenager is optimistic about the overall outlook of the club.

“I never had this feeling of regret,” he said.

“We don’t want any bad things in the team,”

“So, be focused on the team, don’t do any drama. Speak with everyone, have a good relation.

“We cannot build something with bad energy or bad atmosphere or bad characters. I think the club is doing well with this.”

Yoro remains determined to help the club return to play European football next season.

“When you’re in Manchester United, you need to play in Europe,” he said.

“It’s really important for us this year to achieve this, and this is in the mind of everyone.”
