Zidane uncertain if James will play for Real again

As reported by Spanish outlet AS, Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane was unable to answer if James Rodriguez would play for the club again.

The Colombian has been out of favour at the Santiago Bernabeu for a very long time now. In 2017, he joined Bayer Munich on a two-year loan at the end of which the Bavarians had the option to make the deal permanent, but his performances in Germany obviously failed to convince them to do so. He returned to Madrid last summer, but his fortunes haven’t been any better since. This season, he has made a total of 14 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring once and providing two assists for his teammates. He was left out of the squad for the last two games and it remains to be seen if he’ll wear the famous white shirt ever again.

The 28-year-old attacking midfielder appeared close to joining Atletico Madrid at one point earlier this season and there are reportedly several Premier League clubs interested in his services. He has now entered the final 12 months of his contract, and Real are obviously looking to sell before they’re forced to let him go for free.
