Zidane wanted three United players at Real

During his last season as the Real Madrid head coach, Zinedine Zidane apparently wanted to sign three Manchester United players.

As Manchester Evening News report, Real had asked to be kept in the loop regarding the situations of David De Gea, Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial at Old Trafford during an informal discussion between the two clubs.

With Zidane out of the picture and Julen Lopetegui named in his place, they met again in August ahead of the pre-season friendly played between them, and it is believed at the Manchester local newspaper that Real president Florentino Perez revealed they were in the final stages of signing Thibaut Courtois from Chelsea which ruled out a move for De Gea, and that their interest in Martial and Pogba had been abandoned.

The report also hints that Zidane being interested in the trio in the past would boost United’s chances of landing him in the managerial seat should they finally decide to part ways with Jose Mourinho.
