‘I want to stay here my whole life’ – Vinicius in ‘no rush’ to sign Real Madrid extension

Vinicius Junior says he wants to stay at Real Madrid for "my whole life", but insists he is "in no rush" to sign a new contract with Los Blancos.

The forward, who joined the club from Flamengo in 2018, will see his existing contract at Santiago Bernabeu expire in June 2027.

Vinicius scored 16 times in LaLiga as Madrid finished second behind Barcelona, with only Kylian Mbappe (25) finding the net more often for Los Blancos during the 2025-26 season.

It was also the Brazil international's second-highest tally in a single campaign for the club, only bettering that in 2021-22 (17).

Madrid supporters will be keen to see Vinicius commit his long-term future in the Spanish capital, yet the 25-year-old is adamant there is no immediate pressure from either party to put pen to paper.

"I'm in no rush to renew my contract," he told Brazilian streamer CazeTV. "Until 2027, we have a lot to discuss with Madrid.

"Madrid are calm, I'm calm. The president [Florentino Perez] trusts me, and I trust him. I've never imagined myself outside [Real Madrid]. I want to stay here my whole life."

Vinicius also spoke about becoming one of the leaders within the squad, following the departures of several senior players in recent seasons.

"Now, I'm one of the team captains," he added. "Despite being so young, it's something important that happens very rarely."
