Who could Chelsea be forced to push out of the Stamford Bridge exit this summer?

Watching both Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior leave Stamford Bridge this season, Chelsea have found themselves at the heart of a public crisis.Blown away against relegation scrappers Nottingham Forest earlier in the week as they slumped to a deserved 3-1 defeat in west London, the Blues have remarkably lost six consecutive Premier League appearances for the first time in their history. Now facing a real uphill battle in the race to book any kind of European adventure for next season, Chelsea are also dealing with some major financial issues behind the scenes in SW6.Announcing the biggest pre-tax loss in Premier League history last month as they produced a jaw-dropping £262million deficit, the English giants have now got to juggle some serious financial restrictions.Alongside continued speculation over the future of midfield talisman and current skipper Enzo Fernandez, it has been suggested that the Stamford Bridge hierarchy have already accepted that they will be forced to move on some of their first-team superstars in an attempt to balance their books.

Liam Delap

While Ipswich might have suffered an immediate Championship return last season, Liam Delap had underlined his status as one of the Premier League’s breakout starlets.Although Manchester United might have been heavily linked with a move for the England U21 international, Delap eventually arrived at Stamford Bridge after activating his £30million release clause. However, despite arriving in west London with many expecting him to be the man to spearhead Chelsea’s charge, the 23-year-old has quickly become a real outsider in the English capital.Watching fellow summer recruit Joao Pedro enjoy a stellar maiden campaign in SW6, the one-time Manchester City youngster has become a real backup option and has only notched a sole Premier League strike this season. With both parties reportedly weighing up their options ahead of the summer transfer window, it has been suggested that a permanent move away from Stamford Bridge could be a likely outcome. With it reported that Nick Woltemade could be set for an immediate departure from St. James’ Park, Delap is high on Newcastle’s summer wishlist and the Chelsea misfit could be handed a west London escape.

Alejandro Garnacho

Eventually completing a messy divorce from Manchester United last summer and arriving in SW6 following a £40million deal, many were hoping that Alejandro Garnacho’s move to Stamford Bridge would help the 21-year-old find his best form. However, despite arriving at Stamford Bridge following extensive negotiations between the two clubs, the Argentinian international has drastically failed to make any kind of impact.Failing to hold down a regular spot under both Rosenior and Maresca, Garnacho has come under a tremendous amount of scrutiny from supporters around west London.Notching just a single Premier League goal so far this season and with the Chelsea fanbase making their frustrations abundantly clear, the ex-Man United youngster already has major question marks over his future.Sitting on a bumper contract that runs until the summer of 2032 and reportedly earning in the region of £110,000-per-week, the Chelsea hierarchy could view Garnacho as one of the most profitable stars to push out of the exit. With Brazilian sensation Estevao enjoying a breakout campaign prior to his season-ending muscle injury last month, Garnacho appears to be well down Chelsea’s attacking pecking order.

Wesley Fofana

Although there might have been plenty of excitement around west London following Wesley Fofana’s arrival from Leicester back in the summer of 2022, the French international has endured an injury nightmare during his three-season spell.Despite returning to full fitness this calendar year, the 25-year-old has frequently been on the outside looking in and has unsurprisingly become frustrated with his marginal role.Left as an unused substitute during Chelsea’s FA Cup semi-final victory against Leeds at Wembley on April 26th and once again not coming off the bench against Nottingham Forest on Monday afternoon, Fofana is reportedly eyeing a move away from west London. While the Blues might have continued to show a string of glaring defensive issues over the past few months and remarkably not registering a single clean sheet since the middle of January, the former Leicester defender hasn’t been handed a serious run of fixtures. With it suggested this week that Chelsea could be willing to accept an offer in the region of just €30million, it has also been reported that Fofana’s representatives have already reached out to Spanish giants Barcelona over a potential move this summer.
