England captain Williamson drops out of Wiegman’s latest squad

Sarina Wiegman will be without captain Leah Williamson for England's Women's World Cup qualifiers this month.

England, the reigning European champions, face Spain away on June 5 before taking on Ukraine at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

But Williamson will not feature due to a hamstring issue.

Goalkeeper Khiara Keating has also pulled out of the squad, as she suffered a concussion in training last week ahead of Manchester City's FA Cup win over Brighton.

Liverpool skipper Grace Fisk and Brighton goalkeeper Sophie Baggaley have been drafted into Wiegman's squad.

Fisk earned her first call-up in 2020, but is yet to win a cap for England.

The Lionesses sit top of Group A3, having taken maximum points from their four qualifiers so far.

Only the top team from the group secures automatic qualification to the 2027 World Cup.
