Patricio joins Al-Ain for Club World Cup

Rui Patricio has signed a short-term contract with Al-Ain to play in the Club World Cup.

The 38-year-old joins the UAE Pro League side from Atalanta, where he spent just one season after three years with Roma.

Al-Ain won the AFC Champions League in 2024, and reached the final of the Club World Cup seven years ago.

"Al-Ain has signed Portuguese goalkeeper Rui Patricio to participate with the team in the 2025 Club World Cup," the club said on X.

"Patricio will arrive in the United Arab Emirates tomorrow evening to undergo medical tests and join first-team training."

Vladimir Ivic's side have been drawn alongside Manchester City, Juventus and Moroccan outfit Wydad in Group G.

Patricio will certainly bring plenty of experience to their ranks, having played 108 times for Portugal and helped his nation win the European Championship in 2016.
