Yoann Gourcuff set for summer exit

France Football is reporting that midfielder Yoann Gourcuff looks set to leave Lyon at the end of the current campaign.

The highly rated footballer has just over a year left on his deal at Stade Gerland, but his hefty wage is proving to be a burden on the club’s budget.

And with the former France international struggling to justify the price tag, Lyon chiefs plans to cash in on him in the summer transfer window.

According to France Football, the 27-year-old should be available for less than €5 million at the end of the season.

Despite arriving at Stade Gerland as one of world’s most talented footballers, Gourcuff largely struggled to prove his worth and has only recently started playing to his potential.

The former AC Milan midfielder has made a total of 72 Ligue 1 appearances for les Gones, scoring 11 goals in the process, while he last appeared for France almost two years ago.
