Aggie Beever-Jones says 2025 “was the best year of my life” after winning a domestic treble with Chelsea and lifting the Euros trophy with England.
Beever-Jones was a key part of Chelsea’s squad in 2024-25, finishing as their top scorer in the Women’s Super League with nine goals as they claimed a sixth straight title.
For England, she became just the second Lioness to score a hat-trick at Wembley Stadium, netting all three goals in 33 first-half minutes in a 6-0 win over Portugal in May.
She then got one goal and one assist at the European Championships as she helped England become just the second team to retain the title, after Germany (1989, 1991 and six in a row between 1995 and 2013).
“It was the best year of my life in terms of football and accolades, but I’ve learned so much about myself,” Beever-Jones, who finished 2025 as England’s top scorer, told Sky Sports.
“I’ve learned about winning at Chelsea and then my first major tournament and coming away with the trophy. It still feels like a dream.
“If you put me here this time last year and said, ‘this is what you’ll achieve in 2025,’ I’d have said, ‘jog on’!
“What an incredible summer. What an incredible couple of games, where I thought we were going home, then we pulled it out of the bag. Yeah, it was the best year of my life, for sure.”
England went into the Euros with key players like Mary Earps and Fran Kirby retiring prior to the tournament, and Millie Bright opting not to feature.
However, after the added early setback of losing their opening game to France, Beever-Jones is thrilled with the resilience England showed.
“I’d be lying if I said there weren’t moments I thought ‘that’s it, we’re going out’,” she added.
“We had multiple people showing up, Michelle [Agyemang] being one of them, to be able to have the weight of the country on her back and score to keep us in.
“We had to have tough conversations about how to improve, and that’s what separated us from the rest.
“Look at the first game, losing to France and going on to win the tournament. It shows the belief and trust in the team.
“It was proper English football, and we never gave up. I love that about us. Never write the English off.”
In 2026, England will begin their qualifying for the 2027 World Cup, while Chelsea are being put under pressure in the WSL, with Manchester City sitting six points above them at the top of the table.
But Beever-Jones is relishing the challenges that next year will bring.
“I play my best football when I’m relaxed, so I’ll keep playing with a smile on my face, and hopefully I’ll be smiling this time next year, and we can debrief on a successful year,” she said.
“I also need to look back at this year and think, ‘what a year’, appreciate what we’ve achieved and bring on 2026.”
