´A lot of nonsense is written´ – Glasner quashes Bayern rumours

Oliver Glasner has rejected rumours that he wishes to leave Crystal Palace for Bayern Munich as a “lot of nonsense.”

Glasner has had a transformative impact on Palace since taking the reins at Selhurst Park in February 2024, leading them to the first major trophy in their history last term.

His team beat Manchester City to lift the FA Cup in May, and they followed up that triumph by overcoming Liverpool in a penalty shoot-out in the Community Shield in August.

Glasner recently masterminded Palace’s longest-ever unbeaten run, with the Eagles going through 19 matches without losing in all competitions before Sunday’s 2-1 Premier League defeat at Everton.

Those achievements – as well as the fact Glasner is yet to sign a new contract with Palace – have led the Austrian to be linked with other jobs, most notably at Manchester United.

There have also been suggestions he could join Bayern Munich if they opted to part ways with Vincent Kompany, but he has rubbished those rumours.

“Someone said I actually want to become Bayern coach. It amuses me when other people know what I want without having talked to me,” Glasner said after accepting a coach of the year award at the Sporthilfe Gala in his home country.

“I follow the media relatively little. I’ve got out of the habit of following the media too much, whether it’s a win or a defeat, because I’ve noticed that a lot of nonsense is written.”

Asked if there was another Premier League club he would like to manage, Glasner said: “It would be unfair to name a club, because there is a great coach and a great person at every club.

“That’s why I’ll never make a statement about something like that, because there’s just a great coach everywhere. Oliver Glasner doesn’t have to add his two cents.”
