Newcastle United are set to sign Aaron Ramsdale from Southampton in the summer transfer window, according to Sky Sports. The Premier League club have agreed a season-long loan deal with the Championship side with an option to make it permanent next summer.
Ramsdale, who got relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season with Southampton, has been given permission to travel for a medical on Wednesday and then complete the transfer to Newcastle, who will play in the UEFA Champions League next season after finishing in the Premier League top five in the 2024-25 campaign.
Newcastle made a swift move for Ramsdale after missing out on James Trafford. While the Magpies were keen on the goalkeeper, Manchester City decided to swoop in and brought the youngster back to the Etihad Stadium in a £27 million deal. Man City matched Newcastle’s bid of £31 million for Trafford, but since they had a sell-on clause inserted into the deal, they will pay £27 million for the goalkeeper.
