Liverpool’s Charlie Adam has called on the Anfield faithful to help the Reds through their Carling Cup second leg against Manchester City.

The Reds’ midweek 1-0 win at Etihad Stadium left Kenny Dalglish’s side primed to make the Wembley final where they would play the winner of Crystal Palace and Cardiff.

Liverpool have not won a trophy since 2006 and Adam sees this as a perfect opportunity to do so.

“This club should be winning trophies,” Adam told reporters.

“We are in a semi-final and have an FA Cup game against Manchester United, too.”

“The clean sheet against City will give us confidence and we know it will be rocking for the second leg with our fans.”

“It will be one of those magic nights at Anfield and hopefully they can get us to the final.”

Steven Gerrard scored the only goal from the penalty spot on Wednesday and signed a new contract on Thursday.
