Ajax defender Gregory van der Wiel has agreed personal terms with Valencia over a contract that will run until mid-2017.
Ajax recently turned down Valencia’s first offer for the right-back, but they did give the La Liga club permission to talk with the 23-year-old.
Although both clubs are still in talks over a transfer fee, the Netherlands international has already completed negotiations with Valencia and will sign a five-year deal with los Che once they reach an agreement with the Eredivisie champions.
“The clubs are still negotiating, but I expect them to reach an agreement,” Van der Wiel said to Eredivisie Live.
“I have already spoken with Valencia and have agreed terms. If everything goes according to plan, I will sign a five-year deal.”
Van der Wiel added that he will definitely stay with Ajax until the end of the season and will not join Valencia until the 2012-13 campaign.
