AC Milan goalkeeper Marco Amelia has taken responsibility for the 2-2 draw at Bologna on Sunday.

Amelia, 29, who replaced the injured Christian Abbiati between the posts, let a tame shot from Alessandro Diamanti slip through his fingers.

The goal allowed Bologna to level the scores and ultimately led to the teams sharing the spoils.

“I have heard a lot of criticism aimed at my team-mates for the match against Bologna, but I am the one to blame for the draw because I did not stop Diamanti’s shot,” Amelia told Milan News.

“We were unlucky, we could be at the top of the table and that is why this result is even more disappointing.”

Milan are third in the Serie A, two points behind leaders Juventus and Udinese.
