West Brom defender Gonzalo Jara Reyes has been arrested for driving while disqualified.

The 26-year-old has already been banned from driving for 17 months after a drink-driving charge in July, and will appear in court next month charged with driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.

The Chilean international is on loan at Brighton, but missed the club’s 1-0 home defeat to Burnley on Saturday after being arrested that morning by Sussex police, and is now set to appear before magistrates in Brighton on January 20.

The defender had been first choice right-back at West Brom during Roberto Di Matteo’s reign at the club, but struggled for playing time under manager Roy Hodgson, and was signed by Gus Poyet’s side until January to ease injury problems at the club.
