Paris-Saint Germain defender Milan Bisevac has heralded the positive influence of new head coach Carlo Ancelotti on the Ligue 1 leaders.
Italian Ancelotti took over at PSG on December 30, replacing Antoine Kombouare, who was dismissed despite guiding the team to the top of the league standings.
Former AC Milan and Chelsea coach Ancelotti has been charged by PSG’s Qatari owners with bringing sustained success to the club.
And Serbia international Bisevac, who joined from Valenciennes in July, believes the effects are already being felt.
“It changes so many things,” Bisevac said when asked about Ancelotti’s impact.
“Now we are playing with a new system. It is good for us.”
“He (Ancelotti) changed many things. So for us, it is just a matter of adapting. We are listening a lot. We really have to have to listen to him. We are talking a lot with the coach, with the staff.”
“He is bringing something new. Even to the way that we are playing. I think that we are playing in a more simple way. We are playing more directly, our game is faster. We have to stay focused.”
PSG take on fifth-tier minnows Sable-sur-Sarthe in the Coupe de France on Friday, and will be expected to cruise through to the round of 16.
But Bisevac and his team-mates are braced for a struggle, after battling to a narrow 2-1 win over another fifth-tier side Saint-Colomban Locmine in the last round.
“It is really not easy to play against a small team,” he said.
“We know that our opponents will show a lot of determination, because it may be the first and the last time that they are playing against as big a team as PSG. So we must be very careful.”
“We remember that against Locmine the score at half-time was 0-0. The coach came to see us in the dressing room at the half-time and said, ‘Guys, it is … not easy’.”
“We have to make our life easier. The small teams are fighting hard to get a result. That’s why we have to finish them as quickly as possible.”
