Competition: Saudi Pro League
Market: Goal to be scored in both halves
Odds: 8/11 @ Pribet
Looking to extend on their recent purple patch in midweek, Al-Kholood will travel to the Saudi capital on Thursday afternoon when they meet Al-Riyadh.
Starting with the hosts, signing off the 2024/25 campaign in the midst of a public struggle as they limped their way to another bottom-half finish among Saudi’s elite, Al-Riyadh have continued to show the same glaring issues. Along with losing each of their final three Pro League appearances last season by an aggregate score of 7-3, Javier Calleja’s men also notched just a sole win from their final 10 consecutive outings. Getting the new campaign underway with a routine 2-0 loss against Saudi giants Al-Hilal on August 29th, the former Villarreal boss has a serious job on his hands. Last seen putting in another nightmare performance as they fell to a 4-1 defeat against Al-Khaleej, Thursday’s hosts have lost three of their previous four Pro League appearances. Heading into October’s international break with a dramatic 3-2 loss at home against Neom, Al-Riyadh have continued to show some glaring defensive issues. Including a 5-1 drumming against Al-Nassr last month, Calleja’s downbeat squad have already shipped 15 goals in their opening six Pro League matchups.
As for the visitors, putting in a dominant performance last weekend as they stormed their way to an ethic 5-1 romp at home against Al-Najma, Al-Kholood are enjoying what has become a real purple patch. Despite getting the new campaign underway with consecutive defeats, Des Buckingham’s men have come roaring back in a sensational fashion. Extending on their Kings Cup adventure on September 22nd as they clinched a 2-1 victory away at Al-Bukiryah, the former Oxford United boss has seen his high-flying squad gain a string of praise from across Saudi’s elite. Signing off September with another 2-1 win against Al-Shabab, Thursday’s guests open the midweek fixtures sat within touching distance of skyrocketing their way into the AFC Champions League spots. In fact, Al-Kholood have won all of their previous four domestic appearances by an aggregate score of 11-4. It should also be highlighted, Buckingham’s side landed an action-packed 3-2 win when they last met Al-Riyadh back on February 8th.
