Competition: League One
Market: Both teams to score
Odds: 7/10 @ Pribet
Hoping to find a route into the play-off places on Tuesday night, Wycombe will travel to Yorkshire when they meet Barnsley.
Starting with the hosts, opening the midweek fixtures scrapping it out in the bottom-half of the table, Barnsley almost find themselves in League One limbo. However, making an immediate return to winning ways over the weekend as they secured a 3-1 victory away at Leyton Orient, Conor Hourinhane’s side have lost just a pair of their previous third-tier appearances. Likewise, last seen at Oakwell landing a 2-1 win against Peterborough, the Tykes have not suffered a single League One defeat in front of their own supporters so far this calendar year. It should also be noted, signing off January with another 3-1 victory against Stevenage, the former Aston Villa midfielder has seen his squad gain a recent reputation for their lively outcomes. Showing some extended defensive struggles, Barnsley have failed to record a clean sheet from any of their previous 17 consecutive appearances across all competitions – a run that stems all the way back to December 6th.
As for the visitors, while Wycombe might have slumped to an action-packed 3-2 defeat against Reading last month, the Chairboys have come roaring back in an eye-catching fashion. Last seen over the weekend storming their way to a thumping 3-0 victory at home against Burton, Michael Duff’s men travel to Yorkshire on Tuesday night sat within touching distance of skyrocketing into the play-off spots. Securing an impressive 3-1 win against Stevenage on February 21st, the former Cheltenham boss should be excited by his side’s clinical displays in the final third. Getting February underway with a dominant 4-0 romp against Doncaster, Wycombe have notched at least a pair of goals in four of their previous five League One appearances. However, it should be highlighted that Duff’s camp have recorded just a sole clean sheet away from Adams Park since the middle of December. In a showdown between two leaky defences, we are expecting an enjoyable third-tier battle here.
