Competition: National League
Market: Brackley Town win
Odds: 19/20 @ Pribet
Knowing that they can skyrocket their way into the play-off places on Wednesday night, Brackley Town will welcome Wealdstone to St. James’ Park.
Starting with the hosts, while Brackley might have only made their National League return this season, the Saints have rightfully received a string of plaudits. Despite being last seen falling to a close-fought 1-0 loss away at Solihull Moors, Gavin Cowman’s men should find the mood in their camp at a continued high. Opening Wednesday’s return to Northamptonshire sat within touching distance of shockingly firing their way into the play-off places, the former Telford boss will be smelling the chance to claim an immediate response here. Last seen at St. James’ Park claiming consecutive 1-0 victories against Truro and Sutton, Brackley have won three of their previous four appearances across all competitions. Gaining a reputation for their rugged defensive displays, Wednesday’s hosts have conceded just a single strike in over 360 minutes of National League action. It’s also worth highlighting, Cowman’s side have won their last three consecutive showdowns in Northamptonshire by an aggregate score of 4-1.
As for the visitors, although Wealdstone might have come flying out of the traps when opening up the 2025/26 campaign, Sam Cox’s side have largely come crashing back down to earth. Last seen settling for a 0-0 stalemate at home against Eastleigh, the Middlesex-based outfit have come tumbling down the National League standings. Including their showdown against Scunthorpe being abandoned on September 6th, the Stones have now mustered just a single victory from any of their previous nine consecutive National League appearances – a rut that stems all the way back to August 19th. Falling to a rollercoaster 4-3 defeat against Morecambe earlier in the month, Wednesday’s guests should also be concerned by a downbeat record against Brackley. In fact, Cox’s men have lost all of their previous three straight meetings against the play-off dreamers by an aggregate score of 7-1. Likewise, continuing on from last season, Wealdstone have recorded just a sole National League win on their travels since the middle of February.
