Competition: League One
Market: Bradford City win
Odds: 7/10 @ Pribet
Hoping to widen their buffer in the play-off chase on Tuesday night, Bradford will host local rivals Rotherham on Tuesday night.
Starting with the hosts, putting in a downbeat display over the weekend as they slumped to a 3-1 loss away at AFC Wimbledon, Bradford will be seeking an immediate response here. Nevertheless, still opening Tuesday’s showdown leading the chase in the play-off hunt, the Bantams should be confident of claiming local bragging rights in midweek. Securing consecutive victories against Peterborough and Stockport earlier in the month, Graham Alexander’s side will also be excited to make a return to Valley Parade on Tuesday. It should be noted, Bradford have gained a reputation for their extended success on home soil. Including a 1-0 win against fellow local foes Doncaster on January 31st, Alexander’s camp have won their previous three showdowns in front of their own supporters by an aggregate score of 4-0. Likewise, the former Salford boss has seen his promotion contenders win seven of their last eight matchups at Valley Parade – a run that stems back to November 8th.
As for the visitors, while Rotherham might have signed off January with a much-welcomed boost, Matt Hamshaw’s side have come crashing back down to earth in a worrying fashion. Last seen over the weekend getting hit with a 2-1 loss at home against Doncaster, the Millers have lost each of their previous three consecutive League One appearances by an aggregate score of 6-1. Getting February underway with a routine 3-0 drumming at home against Cardiff, Tuesday’s guests should be bracing themselves for another stern examination when they travel across Yorkshire here. Likewise, watching their EFL Trophy adventure come to a thumping end on January 13th following another 3-0 defeat at the hands of Huddersfield, Hamshaw’s side have won just a pair of their previous 14 matchups across all competitions – a rut that stems all the way back to the start of December. Sat firmly in the drop zone, we are backing a home victory here.
