Getting their EFL Trophy knockout stage adventure underway on Tuesday night, Cardiff will welcome AFC Wimbledon to Wales.

Starting with the hosts, coming under a huge amount of scrutiny last season as they sacrificed their Championship status with a whimper, Cardiff have their sights firmly set on booking an immediate second-tier return this time around. Last seen over the weekend putting in a dominant display as they cruised their way to an empathic 3-0 victory at home against Mansfield, Brian Barry-Murphy’s camp are enjoying what has quickly become a real flurry. Extending on their EFL Trophy adventure last month as they secured a 3-1 win against Arsenal’s U21s, the Bluebirds have also found a recent clinical edge in the final third. Including a 3-1 victory away at Northampton on November 22nd, Tuesday’s hosts have won their previous three appearances across all competitions by an aggregate score of 9-2. It should also be highlighted, Cardiff have also continued to shine with their performances on home soil. Along with winning their last three straight showdowns in Wales by an aggregate score of 8-2, Barry-Murphy’s side have also won four of their previous five matchups in front of their own supporters.

As for the visitors, although AFC Wimbledon might have enjoyed a stunning start to proceedings after making their League One return this season, the Wombles have largely come crashing back down to earth. Despite eventually snatching a pulsating 3-3 stalemate away at Huddersfield, Johnnie Jackson’s side have mustered just a sole win from any of their previous six appearances across all competitions. Watching their FA Cup adventure come to a shock end following a 2-0 loss at home against National League outfit Gateshead, Tuesday’s guests have also shown some worrying defensive issues. With their recent struggles underlined by a 5-0 drumming at the hands of Peterborough on November 8th, AFC Wimbledon have remarkably mustered just a sole clean sheet from any of their last 17 consecutive outings across all fronts – a run that stems all the way back to August 23rd. Likewise, Jackson’s side have also shipped nine goals in their previous three matchups away from Plough Lane.

Bet: Cardiff City draw no bet against AFC Wimbledon 7/10 for Tuesday’s EFL Trophy contest @ BetUS
