Opening Friday’s showdown sat in bronze medal position among Ireland’s elite, Tiernan Lynch’s side will be desperate to widen their advantage here. Despite being last seen on home soil settling for a 1-1 stalemate at home against Shelbourne, the Candystripes are unbeaten in all of their previous five consecutive Premier Division appearances. Marking their return from September’s international break with an action-packed 4-3 victory away at Bohemians, Derry will also be excited by their continued success on the road. Including a 2-1 win against Galway last month, Lynch’s side have won three of their previous four away fixtures across all competitions.
