Competition: National League
Market: Hartlepool win
Odds: 7/11 @ Pribet
Knowing that they could climb to the top of the National League table on Wednesday night, Hartlepool will welcome Boston to Victoria Park.
Starting with the hosts, while Hartlepool might have spent the majority of last season almost sat in National League limbo, Simon Grayson’s men have come roaring back in some style. Despite settling for consecutive stalemates against Boreham Wood and Southend over the past week, the Durham-based outfit are unbeaten in all of their first six appearances. Storming their way to a stellar 3-0 romp against Woking on August 23rd, the former Blackpool boss has seen his squad gain a string of plaudits since opening up the 2025/26 campaign. Getting the midweek fixtures underway knowing that they could skyrocket their way to the National League table, Hartlepool have also gained a reputation for their defensive steel. Including back-to-back 2-0 wins against Altrincham and Braintree last month, Grayson’s play-off contenders have conceded just a single strike in their first six National League showdowns. It should also be highlighted, the Pools are unbeaten at Victoria Park across all competitions since the start of March.
As for the visitors, although Boston might have shocked many last season as they eventually clung to their National League status, the Pilgrims could be set for another relegation scrap this time around. Making an immediate return to losing ways over the weekend as they slumped to a nightmare 3-0 drumming at the hands of fifth-tier returners Truro, Graham Coughland’s side look set for another stern examination on Wednesday night. Now losing three of their previous four National League appearances, the former Newport boss will also have a real headache over his side’s extended defensive struggles. Including a routine 2-0 defeat at the hands of Eastleigh on August 23rd, Boston have shipped at least a pair of goals in four of their opening five showdowns. It should also be noted, Coughlan’s camp have failed to record a single clean sheet outside of Lincolnshire since the middle of March.
