Competition: Scottish Premiership
Market: Hearts win
Odds: 4/9 @ Pribet
Looking to extend on their iconic Premiership title charge on Wednesday night, Hearts will welcome St. Mirren to Tynecastle.
Starting with the hosts, embarking on what has become a famous Premiership fairytale, Hearts have only continued to shatter a string of records. In the midst of an iconic purple patch and riding a major wave of momentum, Derek McInnes’ men can once again widen their buffer at the top of the table to six points here. With the mood around Tynecastle at a red-hot high, the Jambos will be smelling the chance to make another title statement on Wednesday night. Getting the New Year underway with consecutive 1-0 victories against Dundee FC and Livingston, the former Aberdeen boss has also seen his high-flying squad register consecutive Premiership clean sheets for the first time since back in October. Collecting a heavyweight scalp last month as they secured a 2-1 win against Rangers, Hearts have won five of their previous six top-flight appearances – a run that stems back to a 1-1 stalemate against Kilmarnock on December 3rd. It should also be highlighted, McInnes side have suffered just a singe defeat in front of their own supporters so far this season.
As for the visitors, while St. Mirren might have sprung an upset last season as they secured a top-half finish among Scotland’s elite, the Buddies have come crashing back down to earth this time around. Facing a real battle to keep hold of their Premiership status in 2026, Stephen Robinson’s men will be bracing themselves for another stern examination when they travel to Edinburgh in midweek. Last seen over the weekend putting in another toothless display as they slumped to a worrying 2-0 loss at home against Falkirk, Wednesday’s guests have lost each of their previous three consecutive Premiership appearances by an aggregate score of 6-1. Getting the New Year underway with another 2-0 defeat at the hands of Motherwell, St. Mirren have gained a reputation for their glaring struggles in the final third. In fact, Robinson’s downbeat squad have bagged just a single top-flight strike in over 375 minutes of action. Given what has been a huge recent gulf in class between Wednesday’s opponents, we are backing a home win at Tynecastle.
