Competition: Championship

Market: Hull City win

Odds: 11/10 @ 1xBet

Seeking an immediate Championship response this weekend, Hull will welcome Portsmouth to Yorkshire on Saturday lunchtime.

Starting with the hosts, while Hull might have been left frustrated earlier in the week as they eventually fell to a 2-1 loss away at Derby, the Tigers have rightfully received a string of plaudits from across the Championship this season. Despite only just dragging themselves over the finishing line last year as they clung to their second-tier status, Sergej Jakirovic’s men have made plenty of improvements this time around. Opening Saturday’s showdown in Yorkshire sat just one-point adrift of skyrocketing their way back into the play-off places, Hull will certainly be excited to make a return to the MKM Stadium this weekend. Suffering just a single defeat from any of their previous seven consecutive Championship appearances, the former Dinamo Zagreb boss has seen his squad gain a reputation for their extended success on home soil. Marking their return from October’s international break with a stellar 2-1 win against Leicester, Hull have registered seven points from their last three Championship contests in front of their own supporters. Likewise, Jakirovic’s side have lost just a sole second-tier matchup at the MKM Stadium since the end of April.

As for the visitors, although Portsmouth might have suffered just a single defeat from any of their first five Championship appearances, John Mousinho’s camp have largely come crashing back down to earth. Looking over their shoulder at a looming relegation scrap, the Blues have now collected just a single point from their previous four Championship appearances. Getting November underway with a woeful 4-0 drumming away at Championship newcomers Birmingham, Saturday’s guests have also mustered just a sole win from any of their last 10 consecutive outings – a rut that stems all the way back to August 30th. Signing off October with a 1-0 defeat at home against Stoke, Pompey have shown some real issues in the final third. Along with drawing a blank in all of their last three straight Championship showdowns, Mousinho downbeat squad have registered just 10 goals so far this season and no team in England’s second-tier has recorded fewer strikes. It should also be noted, Portsmouth have recorded just a pair of Championship wins away from Fratton Park since the middle of February.

Bet: Hull City 11/10 to beat Portsmouth in Saturday’s Championship contest @ 1xBet
