Desperate to find a route out of the drop zone on Saturday lunchtime, Leicester will welcome Norwich to the King Power this weekend.
Starting with the hosts, hit with a six-point deduction earlier in the month and dealing with a string of public financial issues behind the scenes, Leicester find themselves at the heart of an infamous crisis. Remarkably free-falling into the drop zone, Gary Rowett’s men have a major job on their hands in the race to avoid consecutive relegations. Despite snatching a 1-1 stalemate away at promotion dreamers Middlesbrough on Tuesday night, the one-time Millwall boss has not seen his squad register a single win from any of their previous nine appearances across all competitions (six defeats, three draws). Watching their FA Cup adventure come to an end on February 14th as they fell to a 2-1 loss against Southampton, the Foxes have also gained a reputation for their glaring defensive struggles. Including a remarkable collapse against the Saints on February 10th as they eventually fell to a 4-3 defeat at the King Power, Rowett’s side have not recorded a single Championship clean sheet in front of their own supporters since the end of September.
As for the visitors, claiming an immediate Championship response on Wednesday night as they clinched a routine 2-0 victory at home against Sheffield Wednesday, Norwich are enjoying what has been a stunning purple patch. Skyrocketing their way out of the relegation zone, Philippe Clement’s side have won four of their previous five appearances across all competitions and the mood around Carrow Road is certainly at a season-high. Extending on their respective FA Cup adventure on February 14th as they cruised their way to a 3-1 win against West Brom, Saturday’s guests could be smelling the chance to make another statement here. Likewise, the Norfolk-based outfit will also be excited by their extended dominance on the road. Including a sensational 5-0 romp at the Hawthorns on January 20th, the former Rangers boss has seen his squad win four of their last five matchups away from Carrow Road. It should also be highlighted, Clement’s side have suffered just a sole defeat on their travels since the start of December.
