Competition: Ligue 1
Market: Lille win
Odds: 4/5 @ BetUS
Knowing that they can briefly climb to the top of the Ligue 1 table on Sunday afternoon, Lille will welcome Toulouse to the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
Starting with the hosts, while Lille might have been left hugely frustrated last season as they missed out on a lucrative Champions League return, the Mastiffs haven’t shown any signs of a hangover since opening up the 2025/26 campaign. Last seen heading into September’s international break with a sensational performance on the road, Bruno Genesio’s men should find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high. Eventually storming their way to a 7-1 romp against Lorient, the former Rennes boss has seen his squad muster seven points from their first three Ligue 1 appearances. Getting proceedings underway on August 17th with a remarkable 3-3 stalemate against Brest, Lille have found a real clinical edge in the final third. It should also be highlighted, continuing on from last season, Sunday’s hosts have gained a fearsome reputation for their dominance at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy. Along with collecting some heavyweight domestic scalps, the Mastiffs have not suffered a single Ligue 1 defeat in front of their own supporters since the start of February.
As for the visitors, while Toulouse might have come flying out of the traps when opening up the new campaign last month, the Violets certainly came crashing back down to earth prior to September’s international break. Eventually falling to an action-packed 6-3 defeat at the hands of defending French champions PSG, Carles Martinez Novell will be calling on his squad to immediately dust themselves down here. However, despite springing a real Ligue 1 upset last season as they punched a top-half finish, Toulouse will be concerned by a worrying record against Sunday’s hosts. Hit with a 2-1 defeat when they welcomed Lille to town back on April 12th, they also fell to another 2-1 loss when they travelled to the Stade Pierre-Mauroy last season. It’s also worth highlighting, Novell’s men have mustered just a single point from any of their previous four Ligue 1 trips to the Champions League dreamers.
