Competition: Irish First Division
Market: Both teams to score
Odds: 8/11 @ BetUS
Hoping to extend their buffer in the play-off places this weekend, UC Dublin will travel to Strokestown Road when they meet Longford Town on Saturday night.
Starting with the hosts, after only just clinging to their First Division status last season, Longford are desperate for a more smoother ride this time around. Despite once again showing some major issues since opening up the 2025 campaign, Wayne Groves’ men have turned a recent corner since getting June underway. Last seen mounting a second-half comeback at home against Athlone as they claimed a dramatic 3-2 victory, they have recorded consecutive First Division wins for the first time this season. Remarkably knowing that they could move within touching distance of the play-off places this weekend, Longford will also be excited by their recent success on home soil. Including a 2-1 win against Wexford last month, Saturday’s hosts are unbeaten in all of their previous four straight showdowns at Strokestown Road – a run that stems back to April 26th. However, it should be highlighted, Groves’ camp have recorded just a sole clean sheet from their last six appearances in front of their own supporters.
As for the visitors, after suffering real heartbreak last season as they missed out on the chance to book an immediate top-flight return, UC Dublin are desperate to go one-step further this time around. Sat firmly in the play-off places, William O’Connor’s men will be looking to make a statement of intent here. Making an immediate return to winning ways last time out as they clinched an eye-catching 3-1 victory away at Bray, the Blues have suffered just a sole defeat from their previous five First Division appearances. However, despite snatching a 1-1 stalemate against leading title contenders Dundalk earlier in the month, UC Dublin know the importance of claiming some crucial defensive stability. Including a 4-0 drumming against Treaty United on May 16th, O’Connor’s side have mustered just a sole clean sheet from their last eight consecutive appearances – a run that stems back to April 25th.
