Looking to make an immediate return to winning ways in the early hours of Sunday, Real Salt Lake will welcome Colorado to the Rio Tinto Stadium.
Starting with the hosts, coming off the back of an action-packed 3-2 loss away at Minnesota last weekend, Real Salt Lake will be seeking an immediate boost here. Still battling it out at the top of the Western Conference, Head Coach Pablo Mastroeni will be glad to make a return to home soil in the early hours of Sunday. Sat firmly in pole position to clinch another Final Series spot this season, RSL have gained a reputation for their continued success in front of their own supporters. Unbeaten in each of their last five contests at the Rio Tinto Stadium, a run that has seen them pick up four victories, the Utah-based outfit have also shined with their performances at the back. Shipping just a single strike on that five-match unbeaten run on home soil, it should also be noted that Real Salt Lake landed a 3-1 victory the last time that the Rapids came to town.
As for the visitors, also getting hit with their own 3-2 loss at the hands of Austin earlier in the week, Colorado are in the midst of what has become a nightmare run of form. Battling it out at the foot of the Western Conference and coming under scrutiny this season, Head Coach Robin Fraser has seen his side come crashing back down to earth after a stellar campaign last season. On a run that also saw them get hit with a 3-0 drumming against Portland on June 25th, Colorado have picked up just a single point from their last four MLS matchups. Likewise, continuing to show some glaring issues at the back, it should be highlighted that Fraser’s side have recorded just a single domestic victory since the middle of May. Suffering that 3-1 loss when they made the trip to Utah last season, we’re backing a similar outcome here.
