Competition: Spanish Segunda
Market: Racing Santander double chance
Odds: 17/20 @ BetUS
Looking to extend their buffer at the top of the Segunda standings on Saturday evening, Racing Santander will travel to Castile and Leon when they meet Real Valladolid.
Starting with the hosts, losing their La Liga status with a whimper last season, it is no secret that Real Valladolid opened up the 2025/26 campaign with their sights set on securing an immediate top-flight return. However, last seen heading into Spain’s festive display with a nightmare display as they slumped to a 3-0 drumming away at Eibar, Luis Tevenet’s side are scrapping it out in the bottom-half of the Segunda standings and they have a real battle on their hands in the race to find a route into the play-off places. Last seen at the Jose Zorrilla Stadium getting hit with a toothless 1-0 loss against Andorra, the former Atletico Madrid coach has seen his downbeat squad register just a single win from any of their previous seven consecutive Segunda appearances – a rut that stems back to November 3rd. It should also be highlighted, along with registering just one-point from any of their previous three showdowns in Castile and Leon and they have also recorded just a sole home victory since the middle of September.
As for the visitors, while Racing Santander might have suffered play-off heartbreak last season, the Verdiblancos haven’t shown any signs of a hangover this time around. Heading into Spain’s festive break leading the chase at the top of the Segunda standings, Jose Alberto Lopez’s men hold a three-point buffer over the chasing pack and they will be looking to make another heavyweight statement here. Extending on their Copa del Rey adventure last month as they secured a stunning 2-1 victory against Champions League outfit Villarreal, the Whites are unbeaten in all of their previous eight appearances across all competitions. With that purple patch stemming all the way back to the start of November, Santander are also unbeaten in their last four matchups outside of Cantabria (three wins, one draw). Likewise, Lopez’s side have also tasted defeat just once on their travels over the past three months. Despite failing to claim a single victory in Castile and Leon since way back in 2009, an away double chance can be found at generous odds this weekend.
