Competition: Spanish Segunda
Market: Real Zaragoza win
Odds: 13/10 @ Pribet
In what is a real showdown at the foot of the Segunda standings, Real Zaragoza will welcome bitter local rivals Huesca to the Ibercaja Stadium on Sunday night.
Starting with the hosts, while Real Zaragoza might have dragged themselves over the finishing line last season as they clung to their Segunda status, Los Manos have an almighty battle on their hands this time around. Getting this weekend’s fixtures underway sat rock-bottom of the table, Ruben Selles’ new squad have continued to show a string of glaring issues. Only putting six points on the board from any of their first 13 Segunda appearances, the former Sheffield United boss has a huge amount of pressure on his shoulders. Last seen getting completely blown away against Granada as they slumped to a 3-1 defeat, Zaragoza are unsurprisingly pencilled in as the standout relegation contender this season. Including a woeful 5-0 drumming against Cultural Leonesa on October 18th, Sunday’s hosts have lost their previous six consecutive Segunda appearances by an aggregate score of 16-3. Likewise, showing a string of glaring defensive struggles, Selles’ side have shipped 23 second-tier goals and hold the worst defensive tally in the division.
As for the visitors, although Huesca might have opened up the 2025/26 campaign with their sights set on mounting a genuine promotion charge, Sergi Guillo’s side have drastically failed to find any kind of form. Getting this weekend’s fixtures underway holding just a one-point buffer from slipping into the relegation spots, Los Oscenses are desperately seeking an essential Segunda boost here. However, missing out on what they had billed as a potential opportunity last time out as they eventually had to settle for a dramatic 2-2 stalemate at home against Andorra, the former Merida boss has seen his squad register just a pair of points from any of their previous five Segunda appearances. Getting November underway with a 2-1 defeat away at Albacete, Huesca have also shown their own defensive issues. In fact, Sunday’s guests have failed to record a single clean sheet from any of their previous eight consecutive Segunda outings – a run that stems back to September 13th.
