Competition: Belgium Pro League
Market: Goal to be scored in both halves
Odds: 2/3 @ BetUS
Looking to extend on their bright start to proceedings, Antwerp will travel to the Het Kuipje when they meet Westerlo on Saturday evening.
Starting with the hosts, spending the majority of last season scrapping it out at the foot of the Pro League standings, it appears that Westerlo are destined for another relegation scrap scrap this time around. While Issame Charai’s side might have got August underway with a much-welcomed 3-1 victory against Waregem, it appears that was just a minor boost for the Fighting Roosters. Last seen putting in a woeful performance as they slumped to a 4-1 drumming at the hands of Cercle Brugge, the former Rangers coach has some serious pressure on his shoulders. Getting the 2025/26 campaign underway with an action-packed 5-2 defeat away at Belgium giants Anderlecht, Westerlo have lost three of their first four Pro League appearances and have shown some real defensive issues since returning from the summer break. Along with failing to register a single clean sheet, Charai’s camp have also shipped 11 goals in their first four top-flight showdowns.
As for the visitors, while Westerlo might have endeared a real struggle since opening up the new campaign, Antwerp have enjoyed a bright start to proceedings. Despite suffering real heartbreak last season as they narrowly missed out on the opportunity to book a lucrative European ticket, Stef Wils’ men haven’t shown any signs of a hangover. Last seen putting in an eye-catching performance as they clinched a 2-1 victory at home against KV Mechelen, the Reds are unbeaten in all of their first five Pro League appearances and they mood in their camp should be at a real high. Already snatching points off both Royale Union and Antwerp since opening up the 2025/26 campaign, Antwerp will be smelling the chance to make another statement here. Pencilled in as a standout contender to secure consecutive Pro League wins for the first time this season, Saturday’s guests also landed a 3-2 win when they last met Westerlo back on January 19th.
