Competition: NPL Premier Division

Market: FC United win

Odds: 20/21 @ 1xBet

Two camps who are firmly scrapping it out at opposite ends of the NPL Premier Division standings, FC United will travel to Workington on Tuesday night.

Starting with the hosts, largely limping their way over the finishing line last season as they eventually had to settle for a bottom-half finish, Workington have once again shown some major issues since opening up the new campaign. Despite claiming a 2-1 victory away at Bamber Bridge over the weekend, Darren Edmondson’s side are sat in the relegation zone and look like they are facing a major uphill struggle. Watching their FA Cup qualifying adventure come to a dramatic end on August 30th as they fell to an action-packed 3-2 defeat at home against Stalybridge, the Cumbria-based outfit have mustered just a single win from any of their first eight appearances across all competitions. With their nightmare start underlined by a 6-0 drumming at the hands of Stockton on August 12th, it is no surprise that Workington have gained an unwanted reputation for their defensive struggles. Along with failing to record a clean sheet since opening up the 2025/26 campaign, Tuesday’s hosts have registered just a sole NPL Premier Division clean sheet since the end of March.

As for the visitors, enjoying what has been a sensational start to proceedings, FC United are in the midst of what has become a stellar purple patch. Last seen putting in another routine display as they clinched a 2-0 win against Cleethorpes, the Reds are currently leading the chase at the top of the NPL Premier Division standings and they will be looking to lay down another marker here. Extending on their respective FA Cup qualifying adventure on August 30th as they stormed to a 4-0 romp against Rossington Main, Mark Beesley’s side have won six of their first seven appearances across all competitions and the mood in their camp should be at a red-hot high. Getting the new campaign underway with consecutive 2-0 wins against Leek and Lancaster, FC United will also be excited by their defensive steel. Already registering back-to-back clean sheets on two occasions so far this season, it should also be highlighted that the promotion contenders clinched a 1-0 victory when they last travelled to Cumbria back on March 1st.
