Competition: Chinese Super League
Market: Goal to be scored in both halves
Odds: 3/5 @ BetUS
Hoping to extend their buffer in the AFC Champions League spots, Shanghai Shenhua will travel to Zhejiang on Saturday lunchtime.
Starting with the hosts, eventually falling to what was a remarkable 4-3 defeat at home against Beijing Guoan last week, Zhejiang are desperately seeking an immediate response here. However, although the Greens giants might have watched their extended flurry come to an abrupt end last time out, Raul Caneda’s side have largely impressed over the past month. Getting August underway with a stellar 4-2 romp away at Shenzhen, the former Al-Nassr boss has seen his squad register nine points from their previous four Super League appearances. Likewise, signing off July with an action-packed 3-2 victory against Wuhan Three Towns, Zhejiang will also be excited by their recent clinical performances in the final third. Along with registering 13 goals in their last four consecutive Super League showdowns, they have also notched at least a pair of strikes in seven of their previous eight matchups across all competitions.
As for the visitors, although Shanghai might open this weekend’s fixtures sat in silver medal position, Leonid Slutsky’s side are desperately seeking some recent stability. Despite signing off July with their own 3-2 victory against Henan Songshan, that is the only win that the Blues have registered from any of their previous four appearances across all competitions. Last seen falling to a 2-1 loss at the hands of bitter local rivals Shanghai Port, Saturday’s guests have also shown some extended issues at the back. Getting August underway with a sensational 4-4 stalemate away at Yunan Yukun, the Tricolor have shipped 11 goals in their previous four consecutive outings. It should also be highlighted, Slutsky’s camp have mustered just a sole clean sheet from their last nine attempts. In what could prove to be an enjoyable affair this weekend, chances should come thick and fast.
