Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor says her side are “in a good place” ahead of their Women’s Champions League clash with Paris FC on Wednesday at Stamford Bridge, as key players return to full fitness.

The Blues were held to a 1-1 draw by FC Twente in their Champions League opener last week, but bounced back with a 1-0 victory over London rivals Tottenham in the Women’s Super League on Sunday.

That win also brought a boost on the injury front, with Lucy Bronze and Niamh Charles both coming through unscathed, while Sandy Baltimore is back in contention after missing the weekend’s match.

Chelsea have met Paris FC twice before in the Champions League, winning both clashes in the 2023-24 group stage. The Blues scored four goals in each match while conceding only once across the two fixtures.

“We have some pretty good news because we have some players back from the weekend,” said Bompastor.

“Sandy Baltimore is one of them. As you could see, Niamh and Lucy are still in the squad for the game tomorrow, so we are in a good place in terms of having players available.”

With Baltimore also back in the squad, Bompastor is optimistic her side can continue building momentum as they chase European success.

“I said from the beginning, we want to compete as far as we can in every competition we are involved in,” she added.

“The Champions League is a special one because it’s the biggest club competition. That’s also the only trophy missing from this club.

“This is also the reason why it’s so special for us, but the competition is getting harder and harder, and we just need to make sure we focus on ourselves.

“I know we have the quality to go far in the competition, and hopefully we’ll show that on the pitch.”
