Buriram PEA secured the Thai Premier League championship on Saturday after moving 16 points clear of at the top of the table.
Second-placed Chonburi and Muang Thong United have to concede defeat in the title race, despite having four games in hand, as a 3-1 win over Army United sealed the championship.
“Winning the league is a huge success for us,” club owner Newin Chidchob told Bangkok Post.
“It is also a dream come true.”
Newin took over the former Ayutthaya club named Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) to his hometown Buriram.
The ambitious outfit also brought in a number of quality players such as Surat Sukha, a former Melbourne Victory midfielder, and Frank Ohandza, who is a member of Cameroon U-20 national team.
