Daniel Munoz scored and Dean Henderson made a fantastic save as Crystal Palace held on to beat Burnley 1-0 at Turf Moor.

Following a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United on Sunday, the Eagles got back to winning ways in the Premier League courtesy of a 44th-minute header from Munoz.

Martin Dubravka and Henderson had early work to do at either end, with the Clarets’ goalkeeper denying Jean-Philippe Mateta before Jaidon Anthony saw his curling effort tipped around the post.

But Palace found the breakthrough as half-time approached when Munoz guided a brilliant cross from Marc Guehi into the bottom-left corner, leaving Dubravka rooted to the spot.

Henderson pulled off an outstanding stop as Burnley applied the pressure after the break, as he pushed Jacob Bruun Larsen’s thunderous attempt onto the crossbar.

Scott Parker’s side managed to create one final opportunity in second-half stoppage time when Armando Broja beat Henderson to a cross, but Chris Richards spared his goalkeeper’s blushes as he cleared off the line.

Data Debrief: Defence leads the way for Palace

There were few clear-cut chances from both sides, with Burnley producing 0.88 expected goals (xG) from 11 shots compared to Palace’s 0.59 from just three attempts.

But Palace’s defence remained strong whenever they were called upon, particularly Guehi. He won 100% of his aerial duels (8/8) and made 10 clearances for his side, while also recording the most touches (83) and successful passes (54) to go along with his superb assist.

Since the start of last season, Munoz has scored more goals than any other defender in the Premier League (seven), while he has also scored in three of his last four away games for the Eagles in the competition.
