Emiliano Alfaro’s agent has revealed Catania have earmarked the striker as a potential replacement for Maxi Lopez.
Argentine hitman Lopez has signed a deal with AC Milan, but his move to the San Siro reportedly hinges on the outcome of the Italians champion’s pursuit of Manchester City’s Carlos Tevez.
Regardless, Catania have already lined Liverpool de Montevideo striker Alfaro as the man to fill the likely void in their forward line, , according to his agent Vincenzo D’Ippolito.
“There are a number of clubs following him (and) a couple of them are from Serie A,” D’Ippolito told Goal.com.
“It’s too early for me to reveal all of the different options but I can confirm that Catania are one of the clubs interested in the player.”
“Catania would be taking Alfaro as a replacement for Maxi Lopez. The Uruguayan would arrive in Sicily if the Argentine departs.”
Alfaro, who has been capped once by Uruguay, has scored 41 goals in 78 appearances during two separate spells with Liverpool de Montevideo.
