Napoli’s Edinson Cavani has revealed that he had a minor spat with coach Walter Mazzarri but that the situation has already been resolved.
The Uruguayan explained that his relationship with the boss became strained after last weekend’s 3-1 defeat by Roma at the San Paolo but that everything has now been smoothed over on the back of Wednesday’s 6-1 rout of Genoa, a game in which Cavani scored twice.
“I had a little spat with the coach but we have already solved the problem,” the striker said during an interview with Sky Sport Italia.
“It was a deserved victory (against Genoa) and now we can go on holiday peacefully.”
Despite constant speculation about his future, the much-coveted Cavani insists that he is happy at the San Paolo.
“In Naples, I’m fine,” he insisted. “The people give me lots of love and I hope that always continues to be the case. In the future, though, you never know (and) this is football.”
Meanwhile, Cavani is looking forward to the imminent arrival of Universidad de Chile’s Eduardo Vargas, whose move to Napoli is expected to be confirmed soon after the forward passed a medical.
“We know he’s a great player, we’re waiting for him,” Cavani said.
“We hope he fits well in this team but I do not think there will be any problems because this is a great group.”
Cavani has proven a revelation since arriving at Napoli from Palermo last year and his brace against Genoa took his tally to nine goals in 14 appearances in Serie A this season.
