Uganda bounced back to register a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Zimbabwe in the Cecafa Tusker Challenge Cup.
A thumping header from Yanga striker Hamis Kiiza was enough for the Ugandans to dispatch a resilient Zimbabwe side that put up a fight until the final whistle, to recover from their shock loss to Burundi in their last start.
Zimbabwe looked laid back as they relied on long balls to on the counterattack, but that proved to be futile as their opponents managed to capitalise on their weakness on the left wing of the pitch to send in crosses that set up Kiiza for the match-winner.
Uganda dictated the encounter in terms of possession while the Zimbabweans portrayed their attacking intents as they tried to level the score, but they were unable to make their mark on the game.
Uganda becomes the third team after Rwanda and Sudan to reach the semi-finals of the Cecafa competition.
They will face the winner of the match between Tanzania and Malawi.
