Rangers claimed Old Firm bragging rights as they beat Celtic 3-1 following an impressive second-half turnaround at Celtic Park.

Danny Rohl’s side moved level on points with their rivals, after scoring three times in the space of 21 minutes to overturn a 1-0 deficit for victory.

With Hearts playing Livingston later on Saturday, Celtic had the chance to go level on points with the Scottish Premiership leaders.

Wilfried Nancy’s side broke the deadlock in the 19th minute, as Yang Hyun-jun fired into the roof of the net from inside the area.

Jack Butland thwarted Johnny Kenny and Emmanuel Fernandez made a goal-line clearance as the Hoops pushed for a second goal, while Mikey Moore was denied by the offside flag at the other end.

However, Rangers levelled in the 50th minute, with Youssef Chermiti turning home Nicolas Raskin’s cross from close range.

The forward added a second nine minutes later, holding off Auston Trusty before firing past Kasper Schmeichel, who was beaten again 19 minutes from time, with Moore’s low drive sealing all three points for the visitors.

Data Debrief: Rangers edge ahead

Rangers officially lead the Old Firm head-to-head record, with their 173rd victory edging them one ahead of Celtic.

But, more importantly, Rohl’s side have now won five of their last six league games to keep themselves firmly in the Scottish Premiership title mix.

The Gers won after trailing at half-time in the Premiership for the first time since doing so against Dundee back in March.

Meanwhile, not since beating Dundee United in May had they prevailed in a league game in which they had conceded first, and they were made to work for their win.

Rangers finished with an expected goals (xG) total of 1.06 from their nine attempts, four of which were on target, compared to Celtic’s 1.52 from their 21 shots.
